Why does pmcfpayday.ca require my location and/or why am I receiving the following prompt: “pmcfpayday.ca would like to use your location?”

Your current location is required to confirm eligibility to purchase on your mobile device and desktop. The lottery will be offered only to eligible to customers within Ontario at the time of purchase.

What if I already selected "Don't Allow"?

Reloading the page should cause you to be prompted to share your location again. If you have specified that you never want to share your location, you will need to go into your settings to allow. See below for instructions.

What if I receive the following prompt: "You must allow your browser to share you location to purchase tickets, please click "OK" to reload this page, then be sure to allow your browser to share your location to share your location when prompted"?

The browser should reload the page and ask you to share location upon loading. Note: In some browsers, the popup may say "close" instead of "OK"

What if I cannot purchase tickets on pmcfpayday.ca due to Location issues?

You may have told your browser to never share your location. You need to change that setting to allow sale.

Location Troubleshooting Steps for iOS devices:

Step 1: Turn On Location Services (Device Wide)

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Privacy & Security.
  3. Tap Location Services.
  4. Make sure the Location Services toggle at the top is switched on (green).

NOTE: If this master toggle is off, no app or website, including Safari, can access your location.

Step 2: Enable Location Access for Safari
While still in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, scroll down the list of apps and tap Safari Websites.
Select one of these options:

  • Ask Next Time Or When I Share: Safari will prompt you each time a website requests your location.
  • While Using the App: Grants location access whenever Safari is open and active on screen.
  • Never: Blocks all location access for Safari websites entirely.

Step 3 (Optional): Toggle Precise Location
On the same Safari Websites screen, you'll see a Precise Location toggle:

  • On: Websites receive your exact GPS location.
  • Off: Websites only get an approximate location (usually sufficient for weather, local search, etc.).

Step 4: Handle Per-Website Prompts in Safari
Even after enabling the settings above, individual websites will still ask for permission the first time they request your location. You'll see a pop-up in Safari with options like:

  • Allow: Grants that specific website access to your location.
  • Don't Allow: Denies access for that website.

Good to Know (iOS 26 Changes)

  • Safari settings have moved in iOS 18.2 and later (including iOS 26). If you need to change other Safari preferences (search engine, extensions, layout, etc.), go to Settings > Apps > Safari.
  •
iOS 26.3 introduced a new "Limit Precise Location" feature for carrier-level tracking (separate from app/website location). This only applies to devices with Apple's C1/C1X modems (iPhone Air, iPhone 16e)

Location Troubleshooting Steps for Microsoft Edge

If you're encountering issues with location services while using the Microsoft Edge browser on your Windows desktop, it's likely due to permissions related to geolocation access. To resolve this, you can adjust the location permissions within the Windows system settings and the Microsoft Edge browser settings.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Windows System Settings:
    • Access Windows Settings by clicking on the Start menu button and selecting the "Settings" (gear-shaped) icon.
    • Navigate to Privacy Settings and click on "Location" in the left sidebar.
    • Enable Location Access by toggling on the "Allow apps to access your location" switch.
    • Review and manage app permissions, including Microsoft Edge and Maps.
  2. If still encountering issue, check Microsoft Edge Browser Settings:
    • Open the website in the Microsoft Edge browser on your Windows desktop.
    • Access Edge Settings by clicking on the three horizontal dots (or "More" menu) at the top-right corner of the browser window and selecting "Settings."
    • Scroll down to "Cookies and site permissions" and click on it.
    • Under "Site permissions," select the website entry, and click on "Reset permissions."
    • Retry accessing the website and try a purchase.
    • Grant Location Permission in Edge (if prompted) by clicking on the option to allow the website to access your location.
